Our connection in Cote d’Ivor was essentially by accident.  On his 2008 mission to Africa, Delron was ministering in Niger prior to heading to Nigeria; however, a cancelation of the one flight between the two countries left him stranded.  Although it was possible to make the trip overland, his hosts in Nigeria felt that it was not safe due to recent hijackings and bandit activity on the highway.  Since every routing required a stopover in another African country before connecting to a flight into Lagos and since all the other countries required American travelers to have a previously arranged visa for entry, the only option available was a forced layover in Cote d’Ivor.  However, Delron’s host in Niger “just happened” to be close friends with one of the leading pastors in the country.  A quick call ahead led to an invitation for him to be met at the airport and whisked away to a local church to minister during his layover.
