When it seems that the whole world has been turned upside down, that’s the time to remember that Jesus has come to make things right again. This is exactly what has happened with the ministry that Teach All Nations partners within Myanmar. First, the pandemic shut the entire nation down, leaving most of the people without work. Since the majority of the people in this nation live from day to day, many were facing very critical situations – including the possibility of starvation. Then, the military takeover of the government took away personal freedom and resulted in hundreds of deaths. These two catastrophes resulted in economic devastation, with electricity being cut back to just a few hours per day and gas prices soaring to the point that running a generator was prohibitive – causing people to have to cook with charcoal inside their homes.

We praise God that Teach All Nations has been able to sustain a number of pastors and widows and many families with rice, beans, oil, salt, and eggs during these desperate times. But more than that, we rejoice that these needy believers have determined to use even the limited resources they have to reach out and touch the unbelievers in their community. They have arranged to go into the nearby communities and evangelize a different neighborhood each week. The reports from these outreaches are so exciting as we read of forty, seventy, or even one hundred decisions for Christ each week. Many of the new believers are children who eagerly learn praise songs and Bible verses. When the pastor and some of his church leaders go back for follow-up Bible studies and prayer meetings in these outreach areas, they are finding that the new converts are sincere about their decisions for Christ and are requesting that they be baptized – a sign that they are willing to break from their traditional religion and face opposition from their family and friends because of their newfound faith!
