“Women Arise” was the theme of the women’s conferences that three ladies from Colorado Springs and I recently led in three different regions of Sri Lanka, a majority Buddhist and Hindu country. Although we witnessed many healings and deliverances, our main purpose was to re-kindle or light fire in the lives of the Christian women. Our focus was to infuse passion and purpose to start, continue, or increase their evangelistic teaching and prayer intercession work for the Lord in and outside of their churches. In fourteen days, the four of us did twenty-one meetings in the cities of Nwara Elyea, Gampola, and Colombo Sri Lanka. Additionally, we were allowed to speak in churches although the local culture generally does not afford this privilege to women – a tragic misjustice since the pews of most of the churches around the world are filled with women while men are definitely the minority.
The story behind the picture of me with one of the Sri Lankan ladies is that she came up to me, asking prayer for healing. When I started to pray for her, she fell to the floor and began demonic manifestations. After I took spiritual authority over the spirit that was tormenting her, she was set free and began to dance for joy. My translator explained to me that, because many of the women live in homes with Hindu husbands or relatives who continue to worship other gods, they suffer oppression from the evil spirits that are constantly invited into the homes through this pagan worship. Therefore, like this sad case, many of these helpless women need deliverance but, unfortunately, have no one to help them.
In most of our meetings, the size of the crowd and time limit forced us to have group prayer rather than individual ministry. Yet, even without the laying on of hands, there were many healings because of the expectancy of the women and presence of the Holy Spirit in the room. Many of the women who were suffering from severe pain in their hands, backs, and shoulders because of the hard labor they do on the tea plantations testified that their backs or legs were now pain-free.
We all want to thank all the donors and prayer intercessors that made it possible for us to bring God’s love to these humble women on the other side of the world
