This two-week visit to Nepal was Teach All Nation’s approximately thirtieth mission to the country since we began working there in 1992 and have made at least one trip each year other than during the COVID lockdown and a couple years when other hindrances prohibited us from traveling.  Over the years, Teach All Nations has held numerous pastors’ conferences and women’s trainings in essentially every area of the nation and among the Nepali-speaking Christians scattered throughout the Himalayan regions of Northeast India and Bhutan.  In addition to the conferences, Teach All Nations has invested in the country through broadcasting Bible training broadcasts via shortwave radio and publishing literature in the Nepali language, including books specifically for the country and translations of several of Delron and Peggy’s English books.  We have also invested in the physical needs of the country as well as its spiritual needs.  When a major earthquake in 2015 which took the lives of more than nine thousand lives and devastated much of the country, Teach All Nations responded with a relief effort by rebuilding three churches and the homes of seven pastors and church leaders.  Another significant investment that Teach All Nations made in Nepal was the construction of a Bible school in the city of Pokhara, the country’s second largest city.  When Delron visited the Bible school on his last time in Nepal, he was surprised to find the students hand copying one of the books he had written during the early years of his ministry in the country.  The students explained that they had access to only eight copies of the book but thought that the lessons were so valuable that they were willing to do the laborious task of hand writing the book so they would have access to the teachings for their future ministries.  At that, Delron decided to republish five of his early books that had not been in circulation for more than twenty years – one which gives a brief overview of the foundational truths of the Christian faith, one on prayer, one on the ministry of the Holy Spirit, one on dealing with demonic influence (a significant problem in Nepal since most of the people have a Hindu background and have participated in idol worship), and one which is a very basic teaching on end-time prophecy.  In addition, he realized that an effective approach to distributing these materials to the body of Christ in Nepal would be through establishing libraries in churches throughout the nation.  One other major need that he recognized was the necessity to expand the Bible school since students have to be turned away every term because of the lack of capacity at the campus.  Immediately upon returning home, Delron and Peggy began working on these three projects, and God blessed their effort by providing workers in Nepal and funds (above Teach All Nations necessary operating budget) in America to accomplish all the projects in just over one year from start to finish.  Therefore, the present mission was focused around the celebration of these accomplishments with the dedication of the new building, the re-release of the five books, and the inauguration of the initial libraries.  In addition, Delron taught in three pastors’ conferences and preached in two churches.

In a conversation with the director of the Bible school, Delron was able to get a glimpse into the effectiveness of Teach All Nation’s influence in the country.  The director said that, as a young believer, he was so intrigued by Delron’s teaching at a pastors’ conference in Pokhara.  The biblical insights that he received at the meeting prompted him to decide to go to Bible college and to seminary, eventually leading to his current position at the school.  He went on to say that Pokhara Bible School has such an excellent reputation that students choose to come there from distant cities and villages even when they could go to schools in their own region.  He further added that the school does no advertising but has trained over 2,500 students from all seven provinces and seventy-seven districts of the country plus Nepali-speaking areas in India and Bhutan.  When Delron asked how the students hear about the school without posting any advertisements, the director explained that most of the students are recruited by their pastors who are graduates.  They feel that their training is so valuable that they want the next generation to carry on with the same quality.

In spite of all the excitement over the school, the publications, the libraries, and the conferences, it wasn’t until the last day of the trip that Delron realized that there was another purpose for this mission that he was not aware of.  Since there had been a weather delay on his flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and delays both going to and returning from Pokhara for one of the school’s board members who had flown in for the dedication service, he began to feel that it would be advisable for him to take an earlier flight back to Kathmandu so that any delay on his original flight would not make him miss his flight back to the States.  The earlier arrival in Kathmandu made it possible for him to minister at one of the churches in the city.  At the end of the service, a family came up for prayer, saying that the wife was experiencing difficulty sleeping because of frequent nightmares.  When Delron began to pray for her, she began to shake violently.  Immediately, he rebuked the demon that was controlling the woman, and, as her convulsions ceased, she collapsed to the floor.  Some of the men who were present picked up her limp body and placed her on a sofa.  Delron continued to minister to her until the demonic presence left her and a glowing smile spread across her face as she realized that she was free from the diabolic oppression.  Incidentally, we later learned that the Pokhara airport was fogged in, causing all flights to be canceled.
