Linda Easton and I traveled to the nation of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) to hold two women’s conferences and several church meetings in the two cities of Yangon and Kalay – the first ever Christian women’s conference in their city.
We found the women of Myanmar to be very open to our ministry as we watched them readily receive impartations of the Holy Spirit with each prayer. In fact, Linda and I remarked to each other that we felt as if we were experiencing the book of Acts right here in the twenty-first century as the Holy Spirit’s presence was so powerful. Many times when we went to lay hands on them, the women would just collapse because the power of God was so strong.
It is said that expectancy is the breeding ground for miracles, and the women there certainly were expectant – and they did receive the miracles they were believing for. Even before the meetings started, our host brought a relative whose arm was totally immobilized as the result of a stroke. After we prayed for her, her arm was completely healed and she was able to raise it and move it around.
At the conferences, the ladies sat all day, absorbing the teaching with enthusiasm and joy. Every time we invited them forward for ministry, the whole group would rush to the front of the auditorium for prayer and ministry. On one occasion when Linda had a word of knowledge that there were ladies present with lumps on their breasts, five women responded – again with the expectancy that gives birth to miracles with each one testifying that the Holy Spirit had touched them and that the pain and lumps were shrinking or completely gone!
One day, one of the women brought her Buddhist husband who somehow agreed to attend the meeting even though it was a Christian meeting and women’s conference. By the end of the day, he had given his life to Christ and had been healed of poor vision.
We gave each woman a copy of my Women for the Harvest book (either in Burmese or in Chin depending upon which language they spoke) and then challenged them to personally become women for the harvest by deciding to reach out to their Buddhist nation. It was amazing to see how many came forward to dedicate their lives to being used of the Lord.
When news of the meetings spread throughout the country, a delegate from the remote mountain town of Myitkyina traveled over twelve hours to attend the meeting in Kalay for the specific purpose of requesting that we plan to come to her city on their next visit. Plans are already in the works to return to Myanmar and hold women’s conferences in this city and in Mandalay – with the goal of raising up a generation of women who will evangelize Myanmar with signs and wonders following. Right now is the time to reach the nation for Jesus as the current government allows tremendous religious freedom to pass out tracts, openly share the gospel, and hold Christian meetings – a total turn-around from when we first began to work in the country under very strict restrictions of what we could do, where we could go, and how we could arrange the public meetings. Joel 3:14 says, “Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is in the valley of decision,” and this is the time for us to help the multitudes of Myanmar make their decision for Jesus.
We want to thank you for your prayers and financial help that made it possible for us to go. Together with your support and the anointing of the Lord, Myanmar has been forever changed.
